NEW DELHI: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) congratulated off-spinner Harbhajan Singh on being selected to play his 100th Test in the first of the four matches against Australia starting in Chennai today.
“Congratulations @harbhajan_singh on playing his 100th Test tomorrow. Let this series be an encore of 2001. Good luck!” tweeted BCCI, confirming the news yesterday.
The Pubjab cricketer will be the 10th Indian to play in 100 Tests or more. The ‘offie’, however, has for over 18 months now mostly been out of the side and has played only one Test.
Harbhajan has so far taken 408 wickets from 99 Tests at an average of 32.27 and a strike-rate of 68.1. He made his Test debut in March 1998 against Australia.IANS
