Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU) and the University of Nizwa, Oman recently signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), outlining cooperation to promote research and training activities. Dr Ahmad M. Hasnah, President, HBKU and Professor Ahmed bin Khalfan Al Rawahi, Chancellor, University of Nizwa, signed the MoU in the presence of senior representatives from both universities and Qatar Foundation (QF).
The MoU will see both universities engage in educational and scientific cooperation, forging a strategic partnership to promote excellence in research, education and training through a student exchange program, visiting faculty program, dual degree programs, seminars, and research collaboration. The delegation from the University of Nizwa, Oman also toured its various colleges and research institutes.
During the visit, the Nizwa delegation met with senior members from QF and HBKU to learn more about the university’s colleges and research institutes. Moreover, the delegation visited Education City – QF’s flagship development – which is home to a range of educational facilities, including QF schools, partner universities and its homegrown institution, Hamad Bin Khalifa University.
On the sidelines of the visit, Professor Ahmed Suleiman Al Harrasi, Vice Chancellor for Graduate Studies, Research, and External Relations, University of Nizwa, delivered a presentation covering several topics related to health and life sciences, including medicinal plants and natural products; drug discovery; genomics and transcriptomics; anti-venom research; cancer research; and stem cells.
HBKU continually pursues international partnerships to engage the global community in knowledge exchange, facilitate high-quality research, and nurture a thriving education ecosystem.
