Doha: Pakistan International School Qatar (PISQ) recently held festivities and programmes to celebrate Qatar National Day.

Due to COVID-19, it was impossible to organize a big celebration this year, but students in small groups participated in various activities.

The celebration strictly followed COVID-19 safety and precautionary measures recommended by Ministry of Public Health.

The students, faculty, and staff celebrated through commemorative words, Qatar history quiz, cultural presentations, drawing competition, painting and sketching, model formation, wearing Qatar national costumes and other traditional activities.

Clad in vibrant, colourful costumes, students celebrated the day with an impressive participation.

Reflecting the bond between Qataris and expatriates, the children of PISQ beautifully decorated their classrooms with Qatari Flags, posters, and banners to mark the celebrations.

The two-day session witnessed multiple activities by the students of four wings of the school comprising cake  cutting ceremony, Qatar history Quiz, singing of the National Anthem of Qatar, display of Qatar History models, and others.

The students showed keen interest in this lively event.

They made numerous models, sketches, and drawings of Qatar’s various landmarks, which provided a deep insight into Qatar’s rich heritage and tradition.

It was indeed a gratifying experience to see the wonderful array of models and posters displayed aesthetically.

Many students dressed in Qatari costumes added beauty to the event.

National songs were also played to show the solidarity of the expatriates with the residents.

All main activities were arranged inside the classrooms.

Drawing, painting, and sketching competition was held at Girls Wing.

The senior students of Girls Wing reflected their love for Qatar in their messages displayed on a special message board.

Traditional food items were also prepared by the students and shared among themselves.

The students throughout the school proudly displayed Qatari national flags, maroon and white ribbons, and decorations.

Principal of PISQ Nargis Raza Otho lauded the artistic work of the students.

She was immensely pleased of the overall diligence of the staff and students.

She particularly expressed her words of appraisal for the students who diligently worked hard to make the program attractive and informative.

Vice Principal Girls Wing, Afshan Shahid, Vice Principal Boys Wing Raja Nasir, Head of Academics Rashid Latif, Tuqaddus, Vice Principal of Primary Wing, Fauzia Tahir, Head of KG wing, Mubarika Noman and Head of Art and Culture Department Reema Rashid were also present on the occasion.
