The Institute of Public Administration (IPA) at the Ministry of Administrative Development, Labour and Social Affairs has set up annual plan to train a total of 694 public servants on administrative and specialised skills.
The training programme for 2017, has introduced new areas including media reporting, preparing legal materials, preparing technical reports, the art of delivering speech and communicating with audience and cyber security. IPA pointed out that, the new areas of training were added upon feedback received by the institute and assessment of previous training programmes.
The administrative training programme includes three levels, leadership positions for finance sector from Grade 1 to Grade 4, comprising 176 various workshops, aiming to develop leadership skills, strategic planning, negotiation skills, crisis management and institutional capacity building. Each of the programmes will have 20 trainees selected by their employing entities and priority is given in accordance to the order of applications.
Level two include supervisory positions consisting of Grades 7 to Grade 5 and include 248 training programmes designed to achieve the aim of developing supervisory skills, ability of organizing work programmes, basic administrative skills, as well planning skills, follow up, and conducting detailed assessments.
The third level of the administrative training will include finance courses for staffs from Grade 11 to Grade 8. This level will have 102 various training programmes focusing on development of behavioural skills and basic PC skills.
In addition to the administrative development programmes, the ministry’s training plan for 2017 has ten training programmes for new public employees known as specialised skills that enable them perform their careers with a high degree of perfection and quality with self confidence. This level will include 158 workshops covering different government positions and works to raise employees awareness and develop their skills introducing them the law of human resources, computer skills, media and communication skills.
According to the schedule published by IPA the training programme will start on January 1, 2017 and continue until the end of the year spanning throughout the whole months of the year except June and July.
For registration in the administrative training and programmes of specialized skills, employees are required to choose the suitable training programme and its timing in cooperation with their direct head of department, and department of human resources.
List of participants must be submitted to the Ministry of Administrative Development before two months and priority will be given to those who apply earlier because every programme will only have 20 trainees.
The major target of the programme is to ensure that government staffs at different positions and Grades are equipped with good administrative and finance skills.
