Doha: Birla Public School (BPS) has received Talentspire Ever-rolling Trophy for Academic Excellence in Science.
Padma Vibhushan Dr. Madhavan Nair, former Chairman of Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) handed over the trophy to Birla Public School Vice-Principal Rajesh Pillai accepted the award in a ceremony recently.
As many as 17,416 students from nearly 800 schools participated in Talentspire scholarship examination in July.
“India has a rich heritage of scientific thinking and technological innovations from olden times and the recent contributions made by our researchers in developing a vaccine for COVID-19 in record time proves that we have the genetic makeup to excel in very sophisticated fields, if the right ambience is provided”, said Dr. Madhavan Nair.
He was speaking at the Toppers Awards ceremony for Talentspire Science Scholarship 2021, commemorating Dr. C V Raman. In this regard, he emphasised the need for contributions from organisations like Talentspire with their vast pool of academicians, research scholars and scientists.
Dr. Wolfgang Kiefer of Eisingen Laboratory in Germany, the most renowned living expert on Raman Spectroscopy, who received many international recognitions including the Raman Lifetime Award, presented the certificates virtually handed to the toppers.
The names of 100 toppers from various states of India and the Middle East, were read out in the meeting. cholarships in cash and learning materials worth Rs2.5 million are being handed over to the winners.
The event was an extremely rare opportunity for thousands to students to listen to the brilliant array of luminaries in science and technology. Talentspire authorities confirmed that the next set of 1,000 students from among the participants would be contacted and given further rewards.
