Doha: Qatar’s mission in Brussels inaugurated the new headquarters of its embassy.
The ceremony was attended by Belgian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Didier Reynders, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs H E Sultan bin Saad Al Mureikhi, Belgian officials, high-level representatives of European institutions, Arab and foreign ambassadors accredited to Belgium and representatives of Nato.
Reynders hailed the depth of relations between his country and Qatar and expressed delight at the progress attained and the achieved level of partnership in record time.
Praising the visit of Belgian economic delegation headed by Princess Astrid to Qatar in March 2015 and the business delegation that visited Qatar, he said that the mission contributed to strengthening partnership between the two countries and opening prospects for other partnerships.
He attributed the steady growth in relations to the strong convictions and importance attached by the two sides to these relationships, and said the opening of the building reflects the progress of these relations.
Al Mureikhi said that the value of this building is not only in its architecture but also in the consolidation of the concepts of development of relations between Belgium and Qatar. Praising the importance of Belgium, he said that bilateral relations have seen a remarkable development on different levels through political and economic visits which culminated in the signing of agreements and memorandums of understanding in many fields.
Pointing to the geopolitical importance of Belgium as it is the capital of the European Union and hosts the headquarters of the EU, Nato and other organisations, he stressed the importance of partnership with Belgium and hoped for further progress in relations.
