DOHA: The Ministry of Education and Higher Education has said the total number of scholarships offered this year in all fields so far has reached over 2,500, of whom 1,252 students will be sent to US universities in dozens of disciplines.
Saleh Al Muftah, Director of Guidance in the scholarship programme of the ministry, said the deadline for applications for scholarships for studies abroad would be the end of this month, and the number and names of the accepted students will be announced and processed.
He said the most important condition of this year’s scholarships is that the applicant must be a Qatari, the high school certificate should not be older than two years and the applicant must be of good conduct.

Conditions for scholarships

Additional conditions include that the applicant must have obtained 75 percent minimum grade at the secondary school certificate.
He said the ministry has provided two scholarships and conditions of ordinary universities, where students are required to hold 90 percent minimum public secondary school.
Al Muftah, who was speaking at an orientation session organised by the ministry in collaboration with US embassy in Doha, said scholarships are available in all countries, and students mostly prefer to study in the UK rather than the US.
He said available fields of education include business, commerce, engineering, law, medical and science.
