Qatar welcomes armistice between Sudan's Armed Forces, RSF

Doha, Qatar: The State of Qatar has welcomed the short-term armistice signed in Saudi Arabia's Jeddah between the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), an agreement that also allows the delivery of humanitarian relief.

In a statement on Sunday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed Qatar's aspirations that the deal would pave the way for a permanent ceasefire and subsequent broad negotiations that involve all Sudanese political forces, in a bid to reach a comprehensive agreement and sustainable peace that achieves the Sudanese people's aspirations for stability, development and prosperity.

The statement reaffirmed Qatar's stance calling for an immediate end to the fighting in Sudan, the exercise of maximum restraint and prioritizing the voice of reason and the public interest.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs also expressed Qatar's appreciation for the efforts of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United States of America to reach this agreement, and their good endeavors to end the conflict and achieve stability in Sudan.
