New Delhi, India: A microlite aircraft of the Indian Air Force (IAF) crashed on Wednesday while on a routine sortie in the northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh, officials said.
The two pilots on board ejected safely before it crashed into a pond away from human habitation.
The aircraft crashed near the KP College ground in the George Town area of Prayagraj district, about 204 km southwest of Lucknow, the capital city of Uttar Pradesh.
The aircraft had taken off from the Air Force station Bamrauli of Prayagraj.
According to IAF, the aircraft encountered a technical malfunction during a routine sortie.
The IAF has ordered an enquiry to ascertain the cause of the crash.
