Qatar’s missions abroad celebrate historic National Day

Doha: The diplomatic, consular, and representative missions of the State of Qatar abroad celebrated the national day that falls on December 18 each year, in commemoration of the memory of the founder of Qatar Sheikh Jassim bin Mohammed bin Thani.

Their Excellencies and Heads of the diplomatic, consular, and representative missions of Qatar abroad availed themselves of this opportunity to extend assurances of their highest considerations to Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Father Amir H H Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani and all the people of Qatar on this auspicious occasion wishing the country further progress and prosperity.

The Qatari diplomatic celebrations in the capitals and cities of the world received high-level official and popular participation that reflected Qatar’s distinct relations with the world.

In Riyadh, Ambassador of Qatar to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia H E Bandar bin Muhammad Al Attiyah held a ceremony on the occasion of the National Day of Qatar in the presence of HRH Prince Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Abdulaziz, Deputy Governor of Riyadh Province, Secretary General of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf H E Dr. Nayef Falah M. Al Hajraf, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia H E Eng. Waleed bin Abdulkarim Al Khuraiji, Minister of Interior H E Dr. Nasser bin Abdul Aziz Al Dawood along with a host of Their Highnesses princes and senior officials in various government entities and private sector in Saudi Arabia.

On the sidelines of the ceremony, a plastic arts corner was held, in which painter Noura Hammoud participated, and showcased paintings that expressed Arab history, along with the artist Muhammad Bakathir who participated by displaying an art painting on Qatar’s organisation of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.

In Kuwait, Embassy of Qatar organised a ceremony on the occasion of the national day in the presence of Minister of Foreign Affairs H E Sheikh Salem Abdullah Al Jaber Al Sabah, Speaker of the National Assembly H E Ahmed Abdulaziz Al Sadoun, Chief of Diwan of the Crown Prince H E Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al Ahmad Al Sabah, along with a host of governors, members of the National Assembly, officials and senior dignitaries in the country.

In Paris, the Embassy of Qatar to the French Republic organised a ceremony on the occasion of the state’s National Day. The ceremony was attended by high-level French officials from various ministries and government departments, parliamentarians and officials in the most prominent French cities.

Ambassador of Qatar to the French Republic H E Sheikh Ali bin Jassim Al Thani, stressed in a speech at the ceremony the strength of the bilateral relations between Qatar and France, describing them as strategic. He said that the cooperation between Qatar and France within the framework of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 is the best evidence of the strength of relations between the two friendly countries.

In Cairo, the Embassy of Qatar held a ceremony on the occasion of the country’s National Day and the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

The ceremony was attended by Prime Minister of Egypt, H E Dr. Mostafa Madbouly in addition to about 14 ministers, including ministers of finance, supply, industry and trade, justice, social solidarity and agriculture, former ministers, accredited ambassadors of Arab and foreign countries, military attaches, political and public figures, and a large number of prominent intellectuals and senior figures of culture, media, journalism, sports and businessmen. 

In a speech on the occasion, Ambassador of Qatar to Egypt H E Salem Mubarak Al Shafi hailed the efforts of the founder, Sheikh Jassim bin Mohammed bin Thani, and the great legacy he left, and the tremendous efforts that were made in order for Qatar to reach this goal, this level of development and international prestige.

He added that this year’s celebration is exceptional, as this anniversary coincides with two other events that deserve celebration — the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Qatar and Egypt, which is currently witnessing a qualitative breakthrough and remarkable cooperation between the two brotherly countries as well as momentum and movement in all fields, and the conclusion of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, the first-ever major sporting event in an Arab and Muslim country.  The World Cup in Qatar is the best and most successful at all technical, organisational and fan levels, he said. 

For his part, the Egyptian Prime Minister praised, in a speech at the ceremony, the bilateral relations between the two brotherly countries and the boom they are currently witnessing, and reviewed the history of relations between the two countries and the two brotherly peoples, expressing hope that the coming period will witness more cooperation and coordination in order to achieve their common interests.

He expressed his happiness at attending the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the inauguration of diplomatic relations between the two countries, which share fraternal relations and cooperation at various levels, noting that this occasion coincided with the celebration of the National Day of Qatar. In Seoul, the Embassy of Qatar held a ceremony on the occasion of the country’s National Day.

Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kuwait H E Sheikh Salem Abdullah Al Jaber Al Sabah and other dignitaries attending the Qatar National Day celebration organised by the Embassy of Qatar in Kuwait. 

The ceremony was attended by Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism H E Park Bo Gyoon, representing the Korean government, Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly H E Chung Woo-taik, a number of officials in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Korean government and the National Assembly.

In his speech on this occasion, the representative of the Korean government praised Qatar, the impressive organisation of the World Cup, and the great boom it witnessed in the cultural field, expressing the Korean government’s desire to expand cultural exchanges between the two countries, especially with Qatar possessing all elements such as ancient traditions and rational leadership, to become a leading country in the cultural field.

For his part, Ambassador of Qatar to the Republic of Korea, H E Khalid Ebrahim Al Hamar, reviewed, in a speech on this occasion, the importance of the National Day for the Qatari people and its meanings of loyalty to the sacrifices made by the founding fathers, and the meanings of solidarity between the loyal people of Qatar and their wise leadership.

As part of its celebration, the embassy held a special exhibition for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, and pictures of stadiums and other promotional materials were displayed that reflect the cultural heritage, traditions and ancient customs of the State of Qatar, in addition to a video showing the renaissance that the country witnessed in recent years.

In Tehran, the Embassy of Qatar to the Islamic Republic of Iran organised a ceremony on the occasion of the country’s National Day.

The ceremony was attended by Minister of Energy H E Ali Akbar Mehrabian, Deputy Minister of Interior for Security and Police Affairs H E Majid Mir-Ahmadi, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Gulf Affairs H E Ali Reza Enayati, and Member of the Iranian Shura Council and Chairman of the Qatar-Iran Friendship Committee, H E Ali Asghar Khani, and a number of government and Shura Council officials, heads and representatives of diplomatic missions accredited to Tehran.

In a speech on this occasion, Ambassador of Qatar to Iran H E Mohammed bin Hamad Al Hajri reviewed the significance and distinction of the National Day this year, as it coincides with the hosting of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 in the State of Qatar.

In Berlin, Germany, the Embassy of Qatar held a ceremony on the occasion of the State’s National Day.

The ceremony, which was held at the Arab Cultural House “Al Diwan”, was attended by a host of German senior political and economic personalities, including head of the political sector at the German Federal Foreign Office Christian Bock, the Special Envoy for Libya of the Federal Foreign Office “Honor guest” and Head of Middle East Division at the Federal Foreign Office Gregory Bledjian, along with a host of Their Excellencies heads and representatives of the Arab and foreign missions and military attaches accredited to Germany.

In Vienna, the Embassy of Qatar in Austria held a ceremony on the occasion of the country’s National Day. The ceremony was attended by a number of officials from the Austrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the United Nations Center in Vienna, in addition to Their Excellencies the ambassadors of Arab and foreign countries accredited to Austria, and representatives of various official political, parliamentary, diplomatic, economic and media institutions.

Ambassador of Qatar to Austria and Permanent Representative of Qatar to the United Nations and International Organisations in Vienna H E Sultan bin Salmeen Al Mansoori, said in a speech at the ceremony that the celebration of the National Day reflects the meanings of pride in the homeland and loyalty to the ancestors and fathers and their immortal sacrifices, and pride in the wise leadership of the leader of the march of achievements, development and a prosperous future, Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.

He stressed the depth and strength of the Qatari-Austrian relations, and the remarkable development they have achieved since their establishment some 47 years ago until now, referring to the mutual visits of senior officials of the two friendly countries.

He added that the celebration this year is different from previous years, as it coincides with the global event of the State of Qatar hosting the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, and he stressed that the tournament showed the civilized identity of Qatar and its economic, security and administrative capabilities, and its clear achievements in all fields.
