The Strategic Planning Department of the Ministry of Interior yesterday held a meeting with partners in the implementation of the Security and Public Safety sector strategy which is part of the National Development Strategy 2017-2022.
This meeting was meant to enhance coordination of the efforts of different partners to achieve the National Vision 2030, said Abdul Rahman Majid Al Sulaiti, Director, Strategic Planning Department.
The aim of the meeting is to discuss what has been achieved by the Ministry of Interior pertaining to preparations for the sectoral Strategy for Security and Public Safety, which is the second strategy being adopted by the Ministry after the strategy of 2011-2016.
The strategy comprises certain targets which include protection of the society from drugs, ensuring road safety and reducing mortalities related to accidents. The third target is develop an electronic security shield to combat cyber crimes, Brigadier Al Sulaiti emphasised.
Al Sulaiti pointed out that the importance of this meeting comes from the exchange of views with partners and highlighting the challenges faced by the partners during the implementation of the previous strategy (2011-2016), as well as to find out what are the issues that Ministry needs to take into account in its programmes, projects and execution plans, in addition to introduction of what the Ministry needs from the partners' side.
The Ministry earlier formed a sub-committee with membership of the ministry and other partners to handle the task of developing plans and strategy.
The meeting also discussed priorities of execution of the sectoral strategy and operational plans and projects.
