Customs seize 30kg of marijuana

The General Authority of Customs (GAC) yesterday announced that five employees at Hamad International Airport Customs Department have seized 30 kilogrammes of marijuana from Asian travellers.
A statement from the General Authority of Customs said that the employees became suspicious about the bags of a number of travellers and referred them for search. Upon checking the baggage, between 3-7 kg of marijuana was found in each bag. They were wrapped in carbon paper and hidden inside the bags.
During a ceremony held to honour the employees, Chairman of the General Authority of Customs, Ahmed bin Ali Al Mohannadi, praised the efforts of the employees and their role in protecting the society. He added that they were all high quality professionals who are alert about the dangers smugglers pose. He added that the authority was constantly providing training workshops to employees to improve their performances and skills.
