Officials handing over gifts to workers to mark International Humanitarian Day
President of Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation (Kahramaa) Eng. Essa bin Hilal Al Kuwari said that the corporation will celebrate next month with 73 million working hours without injury in the major reservoirs project.
The head of the Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation (QFCI) said in a press statement on the sidelines of the International Humanitarian Day Initiative organised by Kahramaa that the corporation has chosen one of the sites for the big reservoirs project to celebrate the initiative, and distributed some gifts and food to the workers in this project in order to notify them that they are always an important part of any project, and to participate in the celebration of the International Humanitarian Day Initiative.
He pointed out that the corporation, as part of its social responsibility, in cooperation with the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy celebrates the day with the staff and workers of the site as partners in development.
He explained that the aim of this initiative is to show that we are with them in any circumstances, despite the hot weather and despite that most of us are on vacation on this day, but we are with them to share global events and major events and we consider them as a key partner in the success of our work.
Al Kuwari added that the workers are partners in development. “We appreciate their participation and contribution in building this community, especially as they serve in one of the most important projects in the State of Qatar, which is part of the major reservoir project in which 6,000 and 500 employees work around the clock.
For his part, Secretary -General of the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy Hassan Al Thawadi said that the commemoration of the International Humanitarian Day Initiative is a joint social initiative between the Committee and Kahramaa in recognition of the workers’ efforts.
He pointed out that all government agencies in the country sponsor workers, and that maintaining their security and safety is a priority in any project in the country, stressing the commitment of all parties to state standards to maintain the safety of workers during work.
He considered that today’s event is a model that reflects the appreciation of the different parties to work on the efforts of those workers in the infrastructure projects of the state. This initiative was organised by Kahramaa’s National Program for Rationalisation and Energy Efficiency on the occasion of World Humanitarian Day, which falls on August 19 each year. This event aims to spread and instill the concept of humanitarian philanthropy.
