PM attends first ship ceremony at Hamad Port

Prime Minister and Interior Minister H E Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani, Minister of Transport and Hamad Port Project Steering Committee Chairman H E Jassim Seif Ahmed Al Sulaiti and other officials attend the welcome ceremony for the Zhen Hua 10, one of the largest heavy load carriers in the world, at Hamad Port yesterday. 

Doha: Prime Minister and Interior Minister H E Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani yesterday attended a ceremony to welcome the first commercial vessel at Hamad Port.
He inspected Zhen Hua 10, one of the largest heavy load carriers in the world, carrying the first container of cranes for Hamad New Port Project.
The Premier also followed up on progress and phases of the project.


Minister of Transport and the project’s Steering Committee Chairman H E Jassim Seif Ahmed Al Sulaiti was present.
The vision of Emir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and the Premier’s follow-up are the main reasons for the completion of the gigantic project on schedule in accordance to its budget, Al Sulaiti said.
He said the cranes once installed and fitted at the first container terminal, the wharf will be able to unload containers from the deck of the biggest cargo ships in the world.
Hamad Port is also preparing for two shipments of container cranes to increase the number of containers to eight by the year-end. Qatar Ports Management Co. will transfer operations from Doha Port to Hamad Port gradually. 
The port will be partially opened for specific types of ships and cargo ships by the year-end and fully operational in late 2016 to increase the capacity of Doha Port. QNA
