ANKARA: An explosion in the southeastern Turkish town of Suruc near the Syrian border killed 27 people and wounded around 100 who were being treated in local hospitals, the interior ministry said in a statement on Monday.
It said there were concerns that the death toll could rise.
The ministry said the blast that ripped through the southeastern town of Suruc near the border with Syria was a “terrorist attack”.
“We call on everyone to stand together and remain calm in the face of this terrorist attack which targets the unity of our country,” the ministry said in a written statement.
