As Official Telecommunications Partner of the Emir Cup football tournament, Ooredoo capitalised on the opportunity presented by Friday's final match to showcase to 45,000 attendees its new mobile network solution at Khalifa Stadium.
The latest 4G advanced Centralised RAN mobile technologies used in this match are up to 40% faster than the best current technologies.
They will also form the basis of the technologies to be deployed by all stadia during the FIFA World Cup 2022.
The arena solution impressed VVIP guests and international visitors in attendance with its specialised narrow-beam antennas delivering a higher capacity, enabling fans to stay connected and share their experiences with the world.
And with Qatar set to host some of the world’s largest sporting events in the coming years – to include the FIFA World Cup Final in 2022 – Ooredoo is actively working on its Smart Stadium offering, a centralised solution for stadium management that controls security, connectivity, identity management, and access control, enabling teams to effectively manage large-scale events using enhanced predictive models, business intelligence, and real-time monitoring.
But it’s not only stadia managers who benefit from Ooredoo’s technology. Qatar’s stadia of the future will allow mobile device-enabled fans to connect to intelligent antennae that will make every seat in the stadium “the best seat in the house”.
With smart devices, spectators can order food for delivery, check the length of toilet queues at half-time breaks, access in-stadium broadcasts, and watch replays of sporting action which took place just seconds ago.
“Ooredoo has the smart stadium technology to create a truly outstanding FIFA World Cup 2022 visitor experience. Qatar will proudly host the world’s most technologically-advanced World Cup tournament,” said Yousuf Al Kubaisi, Chief Operating Officer, Ooredoo Qatar.
