Imagine Cup 2016 student technology contest on Monday

DOHA: The Imagine Cup 2016 Qatar National Finals will be held on Monday at the Marsa Malaz Kempinski Hotel at the Pearl-Qatar.
Hosted by Microsoft Qatar, the event will be held under the patronage of Minister of Transport and Communications H E Jassim bin Saif Al Sulaiti and will see the participation of six teams from Qatar University, Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar and Texas A&M University in Qatar.
Imagine Cup is known to be the world’s largest student technology competition, spanning a duration of one year with local and online contests held in over 100 countries.
 It is a global student technology programme that encourages students to innovate through building applications integrated with latest technology tools, that help form more sustainable communities. 
This year’s competition includes categories in World Citizenship, Innovation and Gaming. Students and participants from across Qatar will identify challenges affecting their communities and build projects that can help resolve those issues. Revolutionary software provided by Microsoft will enable participants to innovate and create applications that can alter technology in the future.

We are honoured and thankful for H E Jassim bin Saif Ahmed Al Sulaiti, Minister of Transport and Communications for hosting this year’s Imagine Cup under his patronage,” said Naim Yazbeck, General Manager of Microsoft Qatar.

(ICT) and Qatar Datamation Systems (QDS), who share our vision and passion to enabling youth in the State of Qatar.”
Microsoft also witnessed the tremendous support from its partners in Qatar such as Digital Incubation Center of the Ministry of Transport and Communications, Qatar Charity, Injaz Qatar, Qatar Computing and Research Institute (QCRI), Qatar Business Incubation Center (QBIC), World Innovation Summit in Education (WISE), Silatech, Mada Assistive Technology Center, LINKdotNET Qatar, and Ooredoo who have provided coaching and mentoring to student teams through their Imagine Cup journey, and promoted the Imagine Cup platform among their communities and networks.
