DOHA: Qatar Gas Transport Company (Nakilat) yesterday announced to have successfully hosted and chaired the Middle East Regional Forum of the Society of International Gas Tanker and Terminal Operators (SIGTTO).
The event, which took place on April 16, was attended by around 50 delegates from the region and other countries. SIGTTO is the only international body that encompasses Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) ship owners, LNG ship operators and LNG terminals. Its Middle East Regional Forum is held every year. The last edition was hosted in Abu Dhabi.
The international body was established to provide platform for the exchange of technical information and experience between members of the industry to enhance safety and operational reliability of gas tankers and terminals. Nakilat is a listed marine transport company providing the essential transportation link in Qatar’s LNG supply chain. Its LNG shipping fleet is the largest in the world, comprising 58 LNG vessels. Nakilat also manages and operates four large LPG carriers. Via two strategic joint ventures, N-KOM and NDSQ, Nakilat operates the ship repair and construction facilities at Erhama Bin Jaber Al Jalahma Shipyard.
