Participants at the last edition of Senyar traditional fishing and pearl diving competition.
Registration for the sixth edition of Senyar traditional fishing and pearl diving competition opened yesterday at Cultural Village Foundation-Katara .
The organising committee said it will ensure participating dhows meet all logistics, supply and safety requirements.
Registration runs until March 30.
Al Sulaiti underscored the effective role of the traditional tournament in providing insights to the new generation of the hardships faced by their ancestors while in the sea, as well as in instilling in them the spirit of teamwork and values such as patience and resilience. Last year’s Senyar saw more than 800 participants in various categories of the competition.
