Shura Council attends Gulf-European parliamentary meeting in Riyadh

Riyadh: The Shura Council participated yesterday in a meeting at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) in Riyadh between female members of the GCC legislative assemblies and Chair of the European Parliament’s Delegation for Relations with the Arabian Peninsula Hannah Neumann on strengthening the role of women in politics and parliament.

During the meeting, they exchanged views on the situation of women parliamentarians and politicians in the GCC states and ways to empower women and enhance their role in the parliamentary and political fields.

In her speech during the meeting, HE Shaikha bint Yousuf Al Jufairi, member of the Shura Council and representative of the Council at the meeting, affirmed that the State of Qatar, thanks to its wise leadership, has enhanced the status of women and provided them with all opportunities to hold high leadership positions.

She referred to the role of HH Sheikha Moza bint Nasser in enhancing the status of women through innovative and creative programs, which contributed to educating and strengthening their capabilities in all disciplines and fields academically and professionally.

She touched on the contributions of women to the renaissance of Qatar.
