CAIRO: Egyptian Agriculture Minister Essam Fayed told lawmakers on Monday that 2.4 mln feddans (around 1 mln hectares) were cultivated with wheat this year, state news agency MENA reported.
Parliament’s Committee on Agriculture and Irrigation, to which Fayed was speaking, recommended the price of wheat be raised to 650 Egyptian pounds ($34.21) per ardab (150 kg).
