On the directives of Emir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, a C-17 transport aircraft of the Qatari Air Force at the Ministry of Defence, left yesterday carrying 45 tons of aid to the Republic of Sierra Leone, which is suffering from seasonal floods in which the number of victims reached more than 700 persons.
The aid includes essential goods, foodstuffs, medicines and tents equipped for such climatic conditions.The assistance is accompanied by a team from the Qatari International Search and Rescue Group of the Internal Security Force - LEKHWIYA. The Standing Committee for Rescue, Relief and Humanitarian Assistance in the affected areas of brotherly and friendly countries has taken the task of providing assistance and coordination with the concerned authorities to ensure that they reach the affected people.
