Doha: The Ministry of Economy and Commerce carried out 1,320 inspection raids during the second week of Ramadan to ensure the compliance of retail outlets and food outlets with regulations governing commercial activities and crack down on violations.
The campaigns covered commercial and Ramadan-related activities such as Ramadan tents, cafes, butchers, fish shops, in addition to promotions and special offers in commercial complexes.
The campaign also included monitoring of Ramadan price freeze and the list of Ramadan commodities.
Inspectors registered 10 violations, including increasing prices, lack of price disclosure, non-compliance with the announced discount, putting the official approval of offers and discounts in invisible places, refusing to sale goods, and increasing price of subsidised Australian meat.
