Doha: The second session of the “Contributing with my Experience” programme was held in cooperation between the Ministry of Education and Higher Education’s Private Education Affairs Sector and various schools based in the country at Qatar–Finland International School campus in Doha.
The session included topics implemented during the several workshops that dealt with different teaching methods in Finland to learning in the early years based on activities and games. This was in the presence of teachers and academic representatives from several private schools who follow different curriculums.
The session opened with a welcome speech from Yousry Youssef, Principal of Qatar-Finland International School, in which he gave the audience a brief overview of the Finnish approach to early years education. He was followed by Annie Dolaghan, Deputy Academic Director, explaining the purpose of the session and its positive impact on children.
The workshops included the following topics: Play-based mathematics education, the Finnish approach to early years education, the play-based learning approach and providing support to ensure a smooth transition between nursery and school.
The first session of the “Contributing with my Experience” programme was implemented earlier this year, in the presence of Omar Al Nama, Assistant Undersecretary for Private Education Affairs, and Dr. Rania Mohamed, Director of the Kindergarten Department and Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of the Finnish and Spanish schools. Several trainers and experts from Finland participated in it, in addition to participants from nearly 20 private schools and kindergartens in Qatar.
The programme aims to develop the educational process in the State of Qatar by being open to different, globally successful educational experiences.
