Qatar Stock Exchange (QSE) index declined 41.54 points or 0.41 percent to close at 10,103.35 points yesterday. On the weekly basis, the index lost 7.49 points or 0.7 percent. Market capitalisation fell by 0.56 percent to reach QR537bn as compared to QR540bn at the end of previous week. Trading value during the week increased by 13.02 percent to reach QR1.3bn compared to QR1.15bn a week ago.
Trading volume decreased by 1.12 percent to reach 44.29 million shares, as against 44.79 million shares, while the number of transactions fell by 12.96 percent, to reach 13,033 transactions as compared to 14,974 transactions.
The Banking and Financial Services sector led trading value during this week with 38.25 percent of the total trading value, Real Estate sector accounted for 21.45 percent. The Telecoms sector accounted for 15.69 percent, and finally followed by Industrials sector accounted for 9.37 percent.
The Telecoms sector led trading volume last week with 35.53 percent of the total trading volume, followed by Banks and Financial Services sector, which accounted for 30.09 percent. The Real Estate sector ranked third, accounting for 22.99 percent, and followed by Industrials sector, which accounted for 3.58 percent.
The Banks and Financial Services sector led trading number of transactions last week with 40.12 percent of the total number, Real Estate sector accounted for 13.39 percent. The Telecoms sector accounted for 13.24 percent, and Industrials sector accounted for 13.03 percent.
From the 44 listed companies 19 ended higher last week, while 23 fell and two companies unchanged. Vodafone Qatar led trading value with 14.04 percent of the total, followed by Barwa Real Estate, which accounted for 11.01 percent. QNB ranked third, accounting for 9.10 percent.
The volume of shares traded yesterday decreased to 8.6 million from 9.3 million on Wednesday and the value of shares decreased to QR174m from QR226m on Wednesday.
From the 44 companies listed on QSE, shares of 38 saw trading yesterday. From these 3 gained and 32 companies closed lower today, remained three companies unchanged.
Indices of all sectors ended in red today. QSE Total Return Index dropped -0.41 percent to 16,942.72 points. QSE Al Rayan Islamic Index down -0.43 percent to 4,033.53 points and QSE All Share Index decreased -0.42 percent to 2,855.32 points.
