Financial aid distributed in Mali

Doha: The Organisation of Islamic Dawa in Qatar yesterday distributed financial assistance to many families of orphans in Mali in western Africa.
The distribution, thanks to funding from Qatari philanthropists, was part of the ‘Productive Families’ project to generate a steady income for the needy and make them self-sufficient. The organisation is implementing the project in 42 African countries. Sheikh Hammad Abdul Qader, Director-General of the organisation’s office in Qatar, said the project was carried out in cooperation with ‘For the Sake of God’ association in Mali.
He said aid was distributed during a ceremony at Global Conference Centre in the financial capital Bamako and attended by ministers and a large number of people. Qader said speakers at the ceremony praised Qatar’s humanitarian role and Qatari aid the for the needy in Mali and other countries.
