Doha: With global energy demand expected to increase by about 35 percent by 2040 as compared to 2010, the industry’s approach to meeting the energy challenges of the next 30 years must be to encourage technological advancements at every link in the energy chain and in every sector of society, said experts speaking at the ‘Gulf Intelligence Qatar Energy R&D Forum’ held yesterday.
Bart Cahir, President and General Manager of ExxonMobil Qatar said that the members of the energy industry have to work together to continually spur further advancements and breakthroughs in the efficient use of resources, while upholding the highest safety and environmental standards. The collaboration between industry, government and academia has the potential to reap maximum rewards, not only within the energy industry, but as applied to other industries and sectors as well.
“ExxonMobil has been able to make full use of Qatar’s collaborative environment as we progress research efforts that are coordinated with vested stakeholders within the State of Qatar, including the Ministry of Environment and the Ministry of Municipality and Urban Planning,” said Cahir.
“The role of technology and innovation does not end with the inauguration of our projects. They will continue to play a strategic role for many years to come,” said Hamad Rashid Al Mohannadi, RasGas, Chief Executive Officer, RasGas. The Peninsula
