Doha, Qatar: The General Directorate of Endowments at the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs has renewed its sponsorship of the “Tejan Al Noor” International Quran Recitation Competition, organised by Jeem TV, for the 14th consecutive year during the holy month of Ramadan.

The continued support comes under the Endowment Fund for the Service of the Quran and Sunnah, reaffirming the Directorate’s commitment to backing Quranic initiatives, particularly during Ramadan, a month marked by heightened spiritual engagement and devotion to the Holy Qur’an.

The sponsorship reflects the Directorate’s broader mission to promote the teaching of the Quran and instil its values in younger generations through impactful institutional partnerships.

By bringing together endowment work and purposeful educational media, the initiative aims to achieve sustainable educational impact and reinforce the message of waqf in serving the Book of Allah and spreading its teachings.

Speaking at a press conference held at the Directorate’s headquarters, Eng. Hassan bin Abdullah Al Marzouqi, Director-General of the General Directorate of Endowments, underscored the centrality of the Quran as a source of guidance and a lasting miracle. He emphasised that the Directorate is keen to support initiatives that encourage the teaching of the Quran, inspire young people to perfect its recitation, and deepen their understanding of its meanings.

Nasser Mohammed Al Nasser, Director of Children’s Production Services at Jeem TV, expressed appreciation for the renewed sponsorship, highlighting its significant impact on the competition’s artistic and organisational development, as well as on its regional and international reach.

He revealed that the previous season attracted 450 contestants from 22 countries, underscoring the competition’s growing global presence and the success of its ongoing partnership with the General Directorate of Endowments.

Al Nasser described “Tejan Al Noor” as a global Quranic platform that enables children to showcase their talents in reciting the holy Quran within a refined and competitive environment. He praised the endowment support that has enabled the competition to continue expanding in line with its educational and media mission.

The General Directorate of Endowments has also called on philanthropists and members of the community who wish to establish endowments dedicated to supporting one of the approved endowment funds to take the initiative, describing such contributions as ongoing charity and a lasting source of reward.
