The Tamil Department of DPS-MIS organised Pongal Day celebration on January 15 in its auditorium. Principal Asna Nafees, Vice-Principal Junior wing G Mala, Headmistress Activities Mou Bera, academic coordinators, teachers and students attended the event. Elavarkuzhali, Head of the Tamil Department, welcomed the guests and explained the essence of Pongal.
The principal conveyed her best wishes on the harvest festival and stressed the need of affinity with the nature. The event also featured Tamil literary competitions such as poem recitation, Just a Minute, Thirukkural recitation, elocution and folk song, vocal music, essay writing and debate.
A Bharatnatyam dance performance and a skit depicting the true meaning of the festival added flavour to the event.
The programme was anchored by Sandhia Sundaran and Dharshana Rajagopalan.
