The Joint Committee for Monitoring Food Products has announced that Al Watania Poultry imported from a neighbouring country is safe for consumption and free of ‘Salmonella bacteria.’ Salmonella is a bacteria that causes food poisoning.
The committee said that reports circulating in the social media saying Al Watania Poultry is infected with Salmonella bacteria are not true, and the information is old and pertains to 2013, the Ministry of Public Health said yesterday on its official Twitter account.
The company which produces Al Watania poultry has also issued a statement stressing the safety of its products. The Joint Committee for Monitoring Food Products has advised the public not to spread rumours and help authorities concerned by giving right information.
