Within its Secondary and High Schools Programmes, Best Buddies Qatar in cooperation with Ooredoo and Qatar University Department of Psychological Sciences held workshop on the role of teachers’ and students’ volunteering in social integration of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
The aim of the workshop was to enforce assets of schools officials into integration of people with disabilities into community. It was also aimed to raise the awareness of the importance of social integration of people with their peer-buddies without intellectual and developmental disabilities into community though training schools officials across the country to apply the mechanism of programs and activities accessible for all.
The highlighted topics were: the concept of social integration; the importance of volunteering work and its impact on integrating the persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities into community. Laalei Abu Alfain, the Executive Director of Best Buddies Qatar, stressed: “The Importance of such workshops highlight the positive role in supporting the aspects related to people with and without intellectual and developmental disabilities, spreading the spirit of volunteering influence in local community.”
Laalei Abu Alfain stressed: “Best Buddies Qatar is keen to provide all support to succeed in social integration through a range of its programs and activities which allow people with disabilities to participate as even particle in the community, with no restrictions and barriers.
Qatar is one of the pioneers in caring and providing all needed services to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities through continuous workshops and training courses.
