DOHA: Qatar Airways (QA) has announced a code-share partnership with Vueling Airlines, offering passengers enhanced travel across Europe from yesterday.
QA passengers can connect with ease to 67 popular routes of Vueling Airlines’ extensive network.
Vueling Airlines flies to 24 destinations in Spain, 16 in Italy and four in Portugal, in addition to several destinations in France, Croatia, Germany, Malta, the Netherlands and the Czech Republic.
The new partnership will allow seamless connectivity via both airlines’ common gateways of Barcelona El Prat and Rome Fiumicino.
QA operates double-daily flights between both cities and its state-of-the-art hub, Hamad International Airport, linking Vueling Airlines’ European network with QA’s global network of more than 150 destinations.
Akbar Al Baker, Group Chief Executive, QA, said: “Our new code-share agreement with Vueling Airlines will allow greater opportunities for passengers across Europe to connect to QA’s global network.
“Code-share partnerships and airline alliances continue to play an important role for QA.
“The further addition of these code-share routes will offer an enhanced and unrivalled global network and improves our competitive offering,” he added.
Javier Sanchez-Prieto, Chairman and CEO, Vueling Airlines, said: “There are increasingly closer ties between QA and Vueling, and this agreement will enable passengers from both airlines to benefit from the flexibility and convenience provided by the code-share on different European and Middle Eastern routes.”
Qatar Airways Business Class customers will be able to enjoy the comfort of Vueling Airlines Excellence Class, with fast-track security, access to premium lounges and priority boarding and seating.
The benefits also extend to frequent fliers with QA Privilege Club members eligible to earn Qmiles on Vueling Airline code-share flights.
The new agreement, which builds upon the interline agreement signed between the two carriers in October 2014, is effective immediately and bookings can be made via QA.
In its 19th year of operations, QA operates a modern fleet of 190 aircraft to more than 150 key business and leisure destinations across six continents.
This year travellers will continue to see QA expand its global reach, with over a dozen new destinations to explore.
