Doha: The Youth Company (TYC) held the dinner finale to celebrate its third annual Ramadan initiative, “7asanat Olympics” at the Hilton Doha. It recognised over 200 volunteers for hard work and dedication during Ramadan.
The winners were selected in four categories — Best Team Leader/Farid Award; Best Two Volunteers  based on the number of hours they put forward; Best Female and Male Social Media; and the Most Dedicated Volunteer.
The winners received gifts from Volunteer Appreciation Partners Salam Stores, Banana Island, Anantara Resort, InterContinental Hotel Doha, Queen Medical, GM & A, and Coca-Cola.
Aya Abu Issa, CEO, TYC International, said: “It is important that we show how grateful we are to our volunteers and sponsors and that is why we hold this dinner at the end of the programme to celebrate the success of the initiative and show how significant their support is. We could not have done it without them.”
The initiative aims to encourage volunteers to give back to the community in Qatar. Over 250 volunteers took part in the initiative and distributed 3,000 Iftar boxes at traffic signals before and after Iftar.
The 7sanat team also collaborated with Qatar Charity for “#Yestahloon” initiative to provide clothes for blue-collar workers in Qatar by collecting clothes and donations from residential compounds.
Volunteers also visited HMC facilities and elderly homes.
Jaidah Automotive-Chevrolet played a key role in this year’s initiative as title sponsor. It offered its showroom to become the #7asanat16 headquarters to allow volunteers to prepare and launch all activities. Jaidah Automotive also provided vehicles to help the 7asanat team deliver Iftar meals and collect donations from across the country.
The initiative enjoys support of sponsors, including title sponsor Jaidah Automotive; platinum sponsor Vodafone Falla Club, logistics partner  GWC; food partner Hilton Doha; water partner Coca-Cola Qatar; charity partner QC; marketing partner Forbes Associates; and event partner 9Series Events.
TYC is a grassroots organisation and operates as a social enterprise to create social values by empowering youth in an efficient, effective and sustainable manner.
