DOHA: The Ministry of Economy and Commerce has launched notification service through SMS for ration card holders so they could track the transaction of subsidised materials directly.
The move aims to protect the consumer rights by ensuring that the subsidised materials reached the beneficiaries.
The new service will enable citizens to keep a watch on the transactions of their ration card.
The move is part of the initiative “inspection drives and regulating markets” launched by the ministry by the beginning of Ramadan to check the prices and catch violations related to the consumer protection law, said a statement.
The ministry asked those who could not receive notification SMS to text a message containing their full names, ID card number, ration card number and contact details on 50026060 or e-mail at [email protected] so they could be contacted to activate the service for them. To avail the service, the mobile number should be registered in the name of beneficiary.
In case of any suspected message, citizens can call on 16001 to raise their concerns.
