DOHA: The Ministry of Economy and Commerce conducted intensified drives to monitor Shops selling Garangao sweets in different areas across the country, under the Law No. 8 of 2008 on Consumer Protection.
As part of its ongoing intensive inspection campaign, the drive included more than 546 shops, and caught 11 violations varied between the failure to announce prices, illegal increase of prices, and selling expired items. Violators of the law can face closure of the shops and fine between QR3000 and 1 million.
The ministry is determined to protect consumer rights and it will intensify its inspection campaigns in order to crack down on all violations of the consumer protection law. It urged consumers to report any violation to the department concerned and send complaints and suggestions through the ministry’s communication channels.
