DOHA: Qatar District Cooling Company (Qatar Cool), the district cooling leader in Qatar, has won two prestigious awards at the just-concluded annual conference of the US-based International District Energy Association (IDEA) in Miami, Florida .
Held under the theme “Building on Efficiency, Delivering Value”, the conference brought together international leaders in district cooling. Qatar Cool representatives received a silver award for the total square footage served by District Energy and a bronze award for the total number of buildings served by District Energy beyond North America in 2012. In addition, the delegation participated in the comprehensive program which included a series of panel discussions, technical presentations and question-and-answer sessions focused on district cooling, thermal storage, combined heat and power, among many others.
Talking about the district cooling sector in Qatar, a Qatar Cool representative commented at the event: “Qatar, with its National Vision 2030, has been a drive and an inspiration to the district cooling industry with all what it offers; energy saving, conservation of resources, and positive role in the environmental issues.”
“Qatar Cool is committed to delivering the most efficient, cost effective and environmentally friendly solutions to satisfy Qatar’s growing cooling demands, and having the opportunity to meet our peers to discuss important issues to our industry is a crucial element of this.” he said.
Qatar Cool has previously been recognized by IDEA, which was founded in 1909 as a means of “Informing, Connecting and advancing” the global district energy industry, with several important accolades. In 2012 IDEA awarded Qatar Cool the “Best District Cooling System in the World” award as well as the “Space Award”. Qatar Cool currently provides district cooling services for several prominent developments in Qatar, including The Pearl-Qatar, a man-made island off the coast of Doha and other residential and business towers in the West bay district of Doha.
