ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Interior Nisar Ali has approved a new security plan for the Pakistani federal capital city and a reform agenda for the National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra), official sources said yesterday.
He said that the paramilitary force Rangers had been delegated additional responsibility of making Islamabad a safer city by ensuring security of life and property of every resident and giving a boost to the confidence of the people of Islamabad.
He said the new operational strategy should be visible on the streets of Islamabad by April 15. He said this while chairing a high-level meeting attended by acting Chairman Nadra, Director General federal Investigation Agency, Commandant Rangers and top Islamabad police officials.
Nisar said the government would provide necessary funds to start joint patrolling by the Rangers and police, making it efficient and responsive. The minister issued directions for the immediate purchase of vehicles for the purpose.
He also directed the recruitment of trained retired army personnel in the police. He asked the police to train some of its personnel on the pattern of the Elite Police Force. The federal minister said that the FIA should improve its working.
He demanded strict action against those officials who had been found guilty of facilitating human trafficking and suggested their removal from service.
