DOHA: The fifth winter vegetable farmers’ markets 2016/2017 season selling locally produced vegetables will open on Thursday, the Ministry of Municipality and Environment announced yesterday.
Two new winter markets will be opened in Al Ruwais and Muaither in addition to existing markets selling agricultural products which are spread in three locations across the country — Al Mazroua, Al Khor & Dakhira and Al Wakra.
About 40 new Qatari farms are expected to participate in these two new markets. The fruit sections in the three markets (Al Mazroua, Al Khor and Dakhira and Al Wakra) will be housed in air-conditioned spaces.
In addition, the fish section in Al Khor and Al Dakhira will be air-conditioned. The number of local farms participating in the three markets is 80.
