With an objective to stimulate students’ interest in learning the Hindi language, and as part of Hindi Day celebrations, MES Indian school conducted Chetana-2020, an interschool online competition earlier in several categories including, action song (sub-junior category), poem recitation ( junior category), essay writing (intermediate category), story writing (senior category) and poem writing (super senior category). A total of 120 students from 14 Indian schools in Qatar enthusiastically took part in these competitions.
The panel of judges comprised Dr.Vinod Chauhan Prasoon, an acclaimed poet, writer, language trainer and the Head of Hindi Department, DPS Greater Noida; Dr. K Sukumaran, former Principal University College, Kariyavattom, University of Kerala; Sudhakan Pillai, HSST-HG Hindi, Government Girls’ Higher Secondary School, Thazhava, Kollam; Sajitha Punnassery, Asst. Professor, Department of Hindi, Nehru Arts and Science College , Coimbatore; Anant K Kesari, Senior Manager Sales, Marketing and Business, US QSA Thermal, Florida Q Shield; Sanjay Mahendru, Shift Supervisor, QG 3&4; and Padmawati Pande, Teacher Educator.
Felicitation ceremony for the Chetana-2020 was held virtually on September 14, at 4.30pm. Dr. Vinod Chauhan Prasoon, the chief guest, in his address emphasised that teachers need to adopt modern approaches to teach and promote Hindi language.
Hameeda Kadar, Principal MES Indian School and the guest of honour on the occasion, glorified Hindi language and its far-reaching influence in society. Rajendran S, coordinator of the day’s programme, announced the results of Chetana 2020.
MES Indian School was adjudged the overall winners of the competition. Master Punit Pande secured the first prize in the super senior category for the poem writing contest. In the senior category for story writing, Shakti Suresh Iyer secured the third position. In the intermediate essay writing contest, Vandana Sajeev Kumar won the second prize. Shreya Hari secured the first prize in action song in the sub junior category, while Vedha Virendra Redkar won the second prize in the junior category for recitation.
Cultural programme by the students included patriotic songs, group dance, group song and poem recitation.
Ayana Sameer welcomed the gathering, while Safa Shaikh proposed a vote of thanks. Alisha Leanne Rodrigues and Master Syed Yasir compered the programme.
Rajendran.S, convener of the Hindi Day celebrations, in association with the teachers of the Hindi Department, coordinated the event.
School officials and teachers of CBSE schools attended the programme. The felicitation ceremony was live-streamed on the school Facebook page. Haroon, from the Department of ICT along with his team, provided the technical support for smooth conduct of the programme.
