Qatar participated in the 7th Dialogue Conference of Arab-Chinese Civilizations which was recently held in Chengdu city.
Dr Ibrahim Saleh Al Naimi, Chairman of the Doha International Center for Interfaith Dialogue (DICID) and Nadia Ahmed Al Shaibi, Assistant Director at the Diplomatic Institute and other experts represented Qatar in the event. Al Naimi, presented a paper entitled “The phenomenon of Islamophobia and its impact on global social security”.
In his paper, Al Naimi emphasised that no one can deny Qatar’s role in fighting against terrorism and extremism because Qatar believed it was necessary for the world to fight these phenomenon and support countries to restore peace and stability. “If the world today is witnessing dispute over sovereign issues and economic interests there are always common cultural, civilisation and humanitarian ties which need to be enhanced through dialogue,” he said.
Al Naimi outlined that ideological disputes emerged because of wrong information, prejudice, prejudgments and wrong perception about each other and these ultimately led to the appearance of extremism, hatreds discourses and nationalism which the world today is suffering from. These ideologies are against the idea of dialogue, peaceful co-existence that is why their supporters are continuously escalates confrontations on religious and ethnic basis, Al Naimi said.
“Through such Arab–Chinese dialogue Forum we can create effective cooperation and partnership relations and fight together terrorism and extremism he added. We need to disseminate common vision of tolerance and co-existence to be able to overcome terror and enjoy peace.”
Nadia Al Shaibi’s highlighted the Chinese–Qatari relations and strong trade exchange. Qatar provides China with 35 percent of its need of natural gas.
