DOHA: The Agriculture Quarantine Office at the Ministry of Municipality and Environment last month inspected 6,557 types of imported agricultural shipments. The total weight of the inspected shipments at different outlets of the country in June was 98,159.2 tonnes, consisting of vegetables, fruits and other agricultural products. About 163 shipments weighing 108.79 tonnes were found infected with pests and destroyed for violating the law of agricultural quarantine rules. The department also mentioned that it has inspected during the same period 12 shipments weighting 7.5 tonnes prepared for export at the country’s export outlets consisting of different agricultural products. The department has issued health certificates and clearances for shipments.
The ministry emphasised on its Facebook account that agriculture quarantine is the first line of defence to protect plants from pests. It is a precautionary measure to protect plants and agriculture products. Meanwhile, Al Rayan Municipality removed 202 truckloads of waste in Rawdat Qdeem.The Peninsula
