QNB, PayPal tie-up offers better online shopping

DOHA: QNB has partnered with PayPal, the leading global online payment service provider, to give QNB retail customers more options for secured online purchases and other premium services from PayPal. 

PayPal is the faster way to pay and get paid online and via devices. No matter where you shop, PayPal doesn’t charge a transaction fee.

The service allows people to send money with the flexibility to pay using their account balances, bank accounts or credit/debit cards. The Send Money service, powered by PayPal, is the fastest way to securely end money to almost anyone by using their email address. One can send up to QR10,000 daily and the money will be instantly available to the recipient.

“PayPal is trusted throughout the world to enable millions of consumers to shop safely and conveniently online and through their mobile phone each day;” Ali Rashid Al Mohannadi, Executive General Manager and Chief Operating Officer told reporters yesterday.

“This agreement allows our customers to enjoy greater flexibility and security when making online purchases with PayPal”, he said. 

As of today, QNB’s retail customers can create a PayPal account through QNB website, link to it their payment card and immediately start using PayPal to shop safely and conveniently online through millions of websites worldwide. 

QNB’s retail customers can also top-up their own PayPal accounts through their QNB current account and can send money via PayPal to any email address through the QNB website. 

Commenting on the partnership, Elias Ghanem, Managing Director for PayPal Middle East and North Africa, said: “QNB is the leading bank in Qatar and we are truly excited by signing our first bank partnership in Mena with QNB. This partnership is a major milestone on our exciting journey in the Middle East and North Africa, to enable global e-commerce across the region by offering consumers and merchants a safe and easy way to buy and sell online and through their smart phones”.

“With 66 percent of consumers in Mena region using the Internet to search for products and services and only one third of them making online purchases, the offline to online opportunity is significant,” said Ghanem.

To celebrate the launch of PayPal in Qatar, a number of special offers will be available exclusively for QNB customers using PayPal. Offers will include discounts from MarkaVIP.com and Aramex ShopandShip.com. QNB customers can also take advantage of free delivery on purchases from ASOS.com, deals from eBay.com and DealExtreme.com. Details about terms and conditions of such offers could be found on respective websites of MarkaVIP, Aramex Shop and Ship, ASOS.com, eBay and DealExtreme.
