Doha: To help students deal with mental trauma amid the present uncertain time of COVID-19, The Central Board of Secondary Education has launched a counselling app named “CBSE Dost For Life.”

The app will improve the psychosocial well-being of students. The mobile app is available for students from Classes 9 to 12 to help them maintain their psychosocial wellness.

The app will cater to various issues that students face, such as exam anxiety, internet addiction disorder, depression, specific learning disability, exam-related traumatic stress disorder, etc. Students/parents are requested to download the app available on Google Play Store. The students and parents can choose any of the two time slots: 9.30 am to 1.30 pm or 1.30 pm to 5.30 pm and connect through a chat box as per their convenience.

The live counselling sessions will be conducted free of cost, thrice a week on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, by the trained Counsellors/Principals.

Hameeda Kadar, Principal at M.E.S Indian School, has been appointed as the Counsellor for Qatar region by the Central Board of Secondary Education to provide pre-examination psychological counseling to board-appearing students and the parents the time of preparation as well as during the examination to overcome exam-related stress.

The counselling programme commenced on May 10, 2021. Departing from the existing counseling practice through toll-free numbers across the country, the Board has designed this facility for the ease, convenience, and utility of students and parents within the safe home environment.

In addition, the CBSE has prepared educative material on social, emotional, and behavioural issues such as exam anxiety, internet addiction disorder, depression, specific learning disability, substance use disorder, aggression, and life skills to sensitize students and masses alike.
