Emir Cup Trophy Tour visits schools

Doha: The Emir Cup Trophy Tour visited Umm Salama Primary School for Girls and Khalifa Model Independent School for Boys.
A large number of students and staff gathered around the trophy for a memorable photo opportunity with the most coveted prize.
The visit to Umm Salama Primary School for Girls included a fun-packed day in which students performed a specially choreographed dance to celebrate the fact that the Emir Cup Trophy Tour made a stop in their school ahead of the final match.
Moza Al Mahshadi, Owner and Principal of the school, said: “It is a pleasure for the school to host the tour; this is of utmost importance to us and the schoolchildren and we are excited to be part of the final match on Friday. “The tournament is one of the most significant in Qatar in which all clubs are competing to win to have the honour to meet in person Emir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.”
As part of it’s mission to educate students about the importance of taking part in sports and adopting a healthy lifestyle, Khalifa Model Independent School for Boys celebrated the tour by organising a mini-football tournament for students and other sport activities.
The event also included a small exhibition in which health advisers gave tips schoolchildren on healthy eating and lifestyle, importance of taking part in sport and staying active during and after school hours.
Nawal Al Tamimi, Principal of the school, said: “We are proud to welcome the Emir Cup Trophy in our school and be part of the promotional campaign for the Emir Cup 2016. Being part of this major event has a great impact on students and faculty as it makes us feel involved in the biggest football competition of the year.
“Sport plays a vital role in the well-being of our students and we constantly organise sport and football-related activities for schoolchildren as it is our responsibility to ensure that our students live a healthy and active lifestyle.” The Emir Cup 2016 promotional campaign aims to instil a football culture in Qatar and involve all segments of the community, specifically schools, to take part in events and activities organised by Qatar Football Association  during the tournament and ahead of the final match. The Emir Cup final match will take place at 7pm at Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium (Al Sadd Stadium).
