Doha: In the first quarter of 2016, Qatar Charity (QC) drilled over 239 wells in several areas in Indonesia, which suffered due to  drought and shortage in clean drinking water.
The wells provide the inhabitants with clean drinking water, and water for house use. The wells are usually drilled in the areas where there is shortage in drinking water and where mosques and schools do not have water resources. In the first three months of 2016, the total cost of projects was QR1,300,000.
QC implemented the projects as part of its water and sanitation schemes. In 2015, it implemented 841 water projects at a cost of QR4,700,000. So far, it has implemented 3,281 projects at a cost of QR17,500,000.
Karam Zeinhom, Director, QC Office in Indonesia, said, “The water and sanitation projects are a priority at QC. We ensure to implement these projects to face drought, and support the educational process through offering the students a healthy environment”.
He also explained how services related to people’s lives and health are key projects at QC. The Peninsula
