Doha: The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has welcomed Qatar’s nomination of Dr Hamad bin Abdulaziz Al Kawari, Cultural Advise to the Emiri Diwan, to the position of Unesco Director General.
This came in the final communique of the 13th Session of the Islamic Summit Conference which was held in the Turkish city of Istanbul, under the theme ‘Unity and Solidarity for Justice and Peace’. OIC also welcomed the efforts and initiatives of Qatar in support of the Unesco, the World Heritage Committee and the Unesco’s programme for the protection of cultural and natural heritage in emergency situations.QNA
