The Institute of Integrated Electrical Engineers of the Philippines Inc–State of Qatar Chapter (IIEE-SQC) recently concluded its first Technical Seminar and General Membership Meeting at the Philippine School Doha.

In line with IIEE’s theme for the year, “Leading the Electrical Practitioners Towards Global Recognition”, the seminar comprised two sessions attended by 150 electrical engineers.

Overall Activity Chairman Arnulfo Surigao welcomed and briefed the participants on the programme of activities.

IIEE-SQC President Edgar B Bernardino outlined the chapter’s activities and accomplishments during the first quarter. He announced that IIEE-SQC would be hosting the biggest IIEE event to be organised in the Middle East. The first IIEE Middle East Regional Convention will be held from August 9 to 10 this year at the Regency Halls.

The technical presentations included “UPDA-Engineering Committee, Qatar Licence Registration Requirements for Grade – A, B C” by Reynold A Moreto and “Pre-Commissioning and Commissioning of Electrical Equipment” by James Mark Long.

Moreto discussed the requirements and procedures to get registered as an electrical engineer with the Urban Planning Development Authority (UPDA). He stressed that being registered with UPDA would make a Filipino engineer more competitive.

The event was attended by Third Secretary and Vice Consul Kristine F Bautista, IIEE-SQC advisers, former presidents and members. Last year’s IIEE-SQC President Benjardi Wong concluded the seminar by thanking the organising committees and the sponsor, Topnote. The Peninsula
