In order to ascertain the effectiveness of its social, environmental and CSR policies and practices, Total E&P Qatar recently conducted an Ernst & Young audit for all its facilities. The four-day audit mainly aimed to  strengthen its social, safety health, environmental, societal and human rights policies.

Proper training concerning environmental protection, efficient waste management, reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, protection of biodiversity and health and safety in the workplace were included as indicators in the scope of verification for the audit. Other societal factors were also taken into consideration such as labour equality, fair operating practices, human rights and other sustainable development commitments.

“We are very delighted to have this kind of audit today in Total,” said Stephane Michel, Managing Director of Total E&P Qatar, and Group Representative. “The value of our society and the significance of the environment are well understood by our employees. We recognise that conservation of the environment and upholding the principles for human development are important for well-being of all people in Qatar, and we base our operations on this understanding.”

Mohamed Basser, Health, Safety, Environment and Security Manager said: “Total assesses its business performance not only on financial success, but also on its health, safety and sustainable development policies, as well as stakeholder and community responsibilities. We are very satisfied with the CSR audit conducted in Total as it will help us move closer to our social responsibility aims, especially those directed towards conserving our social, health, safety and environmental integrity.
