LAHORE: Pakistan Cricket Board chief Zaka Ashraf resumed his duties on Thursday after a court reinstated him, vowing to continue his mission to boost the sport in the country.
“In accordance with the order of January 15th, 2014, passed by a learned Division Bench of the Honourable Islamabad High Court, Ashraf has assumed the office of chairman (of the) PCB,” a press release from the board said.
The court released a detailed judgement on Thursday, eight months after he was suspended over alleged dubious elections.
“The decision came only because of a free and unbiased judiciary,” said Ashraf, appointed by former president Asif Ali Zardari.
“I have no grudges against anyone and I will continue my mission to lift Pakistan cricket,” he added. After Ashraf’s suspension, the Nawaz Sharif-led government appointed veteran journalist Najam Sethi as interim chairman. In October last year Sharif became the patron of the PCB.
