As part of its Cadre Leadership Development Programme and its continuing outreach to the local community, Qatargas recently organised a pioneering leadership development event titled “Leading in Action” in cooperation with the Al Khor International School (AKIS).
The event that brought together 19 Qatargas Cadre leaders and 28 AKIS student leaders was held as a three-day residential programme in Doha. It involved Qatargas leaders supporting, guiding and leading the students, sharing with them their own leadership lessons and helping them define who they want to be as aspiring leaders.
The workshop was the third module of the Cadre programme  — a leadership development process that the Qatargas leaders have been engaged in throughout 2013. The first module was ‘Leading Self’ and the second was ‘Leading Others’. The third module “Leading in Action” required the Qatargas leaders to design and facilitate their own workshops for the students in which they passed on some of the lessons and insights gained earlier in the year.
The “Leading in Action” workshop also included a challenge that was given to the group on Day 1, where they were given the task of preparing and deliveringa special event for the evening of Day 3. The students worked in House groups (Confucius, Socrates, Avicenna, Curie, Battuta and Shakespeare) and were supported by Qatargas Cadre leaders. At the event, both Qatargas and AKIS leaders launched their own leadership commitments based on the experience and shared learning gained over three days.  The evening, attended by parents, senior Qatargas managers as well as AKIS students and staff was a great success.
AKIS is a non-denominational and co-educational international school catering to the children of employees of Qatargas and RasGas and offering the National Curriculum of England and the CBSE curriculum of India.
